I've said it before and I'll say it again:
At first, it was a real adjustment, moving from a church of 100 to a church of 2000, but I absolutely love it. My church is huge on member involvement and encourages everyone to do something, no matter how small. My pastor is always saying "We can't do everything, but we can do something."
We just finished up Missions Month at church, which featured a month of sermons on being missional, whether that involves feeding your neighbor across the road, volunteering at an outreach across town or ministering to a village on the other side of the globe. And to cap it all off, today we found out about the missions will be supporting next year.
We're adopting an orphanage.
We're expanding our community garden project.
We're expanding our community garden project.
We're building a new Outreach Center in the most needful area of town.
We're collecting Christmas gifts for children.
And this year, our Christmas gift for Jesus: a boat. This year we've chosen to support Central Brazil's Amazon Boat Ministry. What an awesome mission! They travel up and down the Amazon River with a staff of doctors, dentists and pastors, ministering to the villager's physical and spiritual needs. They already have one small boat in use and are in the process of building a second, aptly named The Ark. We'll be taking up an offering on December 19 that will go directly to this amazing project!

I had a friend at work that did a few months with the Amazon Boat Ministry and came back a different person. He was a nurse and said every day was full of hard work and long hours but every night he got a good nights sleep and was ready for the next day. When we give we get back so much more. Glad you found a Great Church...and so active too! Keeping busy doing the Lords work will be repaid in so many ways...and when you least expect it too...way to go!
