| Waiting to carve Old Jack |
I can't believe October is already over and Halloween has passed. It's amazing how the older you get the quicker the time passes. These past 6 or 7 years have just zipped by and the days pass more quickly now than ever.
Anyway, the kids had a blast last weekend. Isaac had a party at school and then the real fun started at home. Saturday morning we carved the pumpkin into a lovely Jack, with big expressive eyes and a mustache. I'm not sure what the mustache was about, but Isaac was insistent that we carve one.

After we finished the pumpkin carving and got dressed, we went to the fall festival at church for a couple of hours. What a great time! There was a petting zoo, Trunk or Treat, carnival games and inflatables in the gym. The kids had a great time! They were especially tickled when Uncle Chris, Aunt Amy and Cousin O arrived!
After the fall festival, we had supper with Uncle Chris and his family and Mamaw and Papaw. The kids were so excited for Trick or Treat, it was all we could do to get them to sit down and eat a slice of pizza.
From there, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's neck of the woods for treats and then on to beggar's night. We were only out for about an hour, but the kids still came home with a grocery bag full of candy; plenty to last us until next Halloween! Between playing on the inflatables and walking the village for candy, both kids were worn out (and smelly) come Saturday night. Thank goodness that only comes once a year.
Now that Halloween is over, we're enjoying the colder weather, including the first flurries of the season early this morning. The garden is put away for winter and the old scrap bag has been retrieved from the back of the closet: time to start quilting!
