That's One Mean Chicken

I never really fully understood what broodiness meant in terms of chickens....until 10 days ago. Since then I've discovered a few things;

Broody hens are best handled with leather gloves.

Broody hens sure can make some crazy-scary noises.

Broody hens are best left alone.

The word 'broody' comes from an ancient Latin term for "Crikey! That's one mean chicken!!"
