Saved From The Stew Pot

There's a Frizzle out in the coop breathing a sigh of relief right about now. For the past couple of weeks, there's been some question as to whether the Frizzle was a hen or a roo. The 'twin' we lost had been an good layer, and as we were getting no more small eggs, we assumed the other was a roo. It would appear that she was just a late bloomer as we've started getting a tiny egg each day. That little puffball had no idea how close she came to becoming a chicken pot pie.

Jeff is tickled beyond words as Bantam eggs are perfect picklers! They're about as big as a golf ball, 2 bites max! And they're lovely thrown into a jar of sweet/spicy brine and allowed to set for a week or two. They're also bright, clean white so they'll be beautiful Easter eggs this weekend. I hope.
